Future Flames Junior School
Future Flames Junior School, situated in Wakiso District, was restored to stability around 2014 after facing possible closure through the timely intervention of the BCreativity team.
The school has since progressed through the introduction of effective literacy programs, play-based and learner-centered teaching approaches, continuous teacher professional development, and initiatives that equip parents with skills to support their children’s learning.
In addition, BCreativity has strengthened the school’s safety and sustainability by improving security with a perimeter wall and secure gate, and by promoting school-based farming and poultry projects that enhance experiential learning and contribute to food security.
Description of improvements
Like many community schools, Future Flames faces challenges as parents struggle to meet school fees—one of the most critical being access to food. Last year, the school began keeping goats and chickens to support meals and generate income, but sadly all were stolen overnight.
Thanks to BCreativity, a secure perimeter wall and gate are now in place. This protects livestock and crops grown on school grounds, ensuring long-term sustainability.
Impact:
– Improved nutrition, supporting children’s learning and wellbeing
– Practical life skills in animal care and food production
– Enhanced security for pupils, staff, and school resources
